Max Crompton's journal
Max Crompton, who suffered from a congenital heart disease, was admitted to the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle to await a suitable donor for a heart transplant at the age of 27. Upon the day of his arrival, his wife suggested that he kept a hand written journal, primarily to give him something to do to fill the long, lonely hours waiting on a donor list. However, as Max waited for his chance of a new life, the journals took on a whole new meaning to him and, in the end became his main coping mechanism. It provided him with a forum to confide his deepest fears and greatest dreams, free from the burden of conscience and pride. His journals now bear terrific thoughts, incredible journeys, inexplicable highs, wonder, hope, fear and pain, but most of all, an enduring love that surrounded and supported him throughout his journey. Max's journals were written with the forethought of publication and therefore convey an honest, untainted and fallible life-experience of heart transplantation. A Change of Heart remains unchanged and unedited from the original hand-written texts. This book could benefit anyone waiting on a transplant list, or living with a congenital heart defect and also an Doctors or Transplant healthcare workers, who want a true glimpse of what it could be like for their patients, who are going through such a journey.
The book 'A Change of Heart' is available for pre order at Amazon
