TEAM FREEMAN TAKE ON BTG IN OXFORD!

At this years British Transplant Games 2025 in Oxford we had a total of 17 competitors from our Freeman Heart and Lung Team. The competition ran from 31st of July to the 3rd of August.

Day 1 (Thurs)

The games got off to a great start.  We had Team members competing in Archery….Susan won a bronze medal and Debbie won a Gold medal.  There was a little down pour of rain but the FHLTA gazebo helped keep the team dry.  In Vollleyball Craig won Bronze!  We also had couple of Team members competing at snooker and all enjoyed the game.

The team then got together for The Opening Ceremony at Blenheim Palace and finished the night at a near by pub for food and drinks.

Day 2 (Fri)

The team competed in golf , table tennis, tenpin, cycling and darts. Eloise won Bronze in Table tennis.  Shane won Silver at Golf and Richard rode home the Silver medal.

The team went out for a meal before finishing the day off at Darts in a nice relaxed social setting where Rebecca brought home Bronze for the team!

Day 3 (Sat)

The team were competing in lawn bowls, football, 5k Walk, swimming and badminton. Mehreen and Eloise won gold in badminton and Debbie secured a Bronze medal at swimming in the 100 metre breast stroke, beating her personal best by 23 seconds!

The day finished off with the famous Donor Walk and in true Team Freeman style put in huge efforts with their fancy dress and supporting one another around the lakes at Blenheim Palace in Oxford.  The lake looked gorgeous as the sun began to set on a lovely evening where we could all pay tribute to our donors picking up the most important medal of all in remembrance of them.

Day 4 the final day (Sun)

After an exhausting few days the team were competed in track and field events, tennis and petanque. Craig won Silver in shott putt and discuss,  Mark won Silver in javelin and Debbie the Bronze.  Mehreen won Bronze in the 800m.

A total of 15 medals were won by the team, although we know the games is about much more than medals!  Everyone at this years games put in so much effort AND as always were such warm supportive team players helping out each other whenever they could. The true spirit of the games!

The team finished of the evening with a team meal where votes had been counted and the winner of the Derek Airey memorial trophy was presented to Simon Ripley and the Winner of the Joan Whitney memorial trophy went to new team member Rebecca Lima. The team then finished their evening at the closing party at Oxford University Examination Halls.
